[Husker] Somewhat Predictions

Refardless of who the coach would have been for NU football for
2008 the schedule is going to be tough. Western Michigan was 3-4 in
the MAC last year and San Jose was 4-4 in the WAC. New Mexico
State was 1-7 in the WAC. All three of those game are home so I am
going to say we should have a good chance to win those. It is after that
it gets interesting. Virginia Tech is likely again one of the best teams in
the Nation and will likely be a loss. So at this point NU would be 3-1
for the non-conference part of the schedule. If NU does indeed beat VT
and possibly beat them decisively that would change my stated outlook
the rest of the way.

After that I would say there are no sure wins. Baylor and Iowa State
probably would be the weakest two teams. Having to go to Oklahoma,
Texas Tech, and Kansas State will be no picnic. I would say if NU can
go 4-4 in the conference that would be reasonable to expect which
would make NU finish at 7-5 which is indeed improvement. I would
think NU will lose at least three games in the conference. And, of the
games they lose I wouldn't expect any blowouts or teams scoring more
than 40 points on us.

Now I am only taking what I personally know about the teams and
applying it. NU could do better than that. If they go 6-2 in the
conference that would make it 9-3 assuming they go 3-1 in the non-
conference. But it could easily be 6-6. If Bo wins nine games this fall
my hat is off to him and I'll say he is the real thing. But I honestly think
that may be a little difficult.
