And I'll just add a small note (this time for sure) that I don't discount
the value of recruiting services - I think they are valuable in informing
the fans on the relative value of the kids who have committed to playing for
their team. And I'm sure there's a strong correlation between high school
rankings and future individual success. But the point of the original
article was measuring program success based on the ranking of high school
athletes. I think you have to just take recruit rankings for what they are
- a subjective evaluation of the potential of a 18 year old kid. What's
really important is what happens to them after the program gets their hands
on them.
