[Husker] Watson turns down Alabama

I have heard rumors that Nick Saban is a difficult boss under the best of circumstances. Applewhite for example, left as co-OC to become running backs coach at Texas. I know he wants to get back to Texas, but it did involve a step down.

I think we all knew Watson would become a hot commodity at some point, but we did hope it would be after a couple of years under BP.

I hope it works out.

I think it is great news that he turned down Alabama, we don't need anymore change in the coaching staff right now, and Watson as OC would be a big loss. But Mark may be right, something else may be going on. If it's true that the Alabama job pays $400K and SW now makes $225K, then that has to make you wonder. Alabama is a high profile, tradition rich program easily the equal of Nebraska, in a great conference, and also has the chance to work with one of the best college coaches in the game right now in Nick Saban. All of that plus almost double your salary. Now there are many reasons Shawn might not have found the job the right thing and it wasn't a good fit for him or he is committed to staying in place no matter what. But there is also the distinct chance that another shoe may drop. Hope not.
