It's not, but there are two things missing here:
1) Since the addition of the computer factor, that has helped that a little
since computers don't care when the loss occurred. It's still figured in,
because the humans have the majority vote, but SOME of it's washed out.
2) If it were a playoff system, you'd have the same scenario, but you'd be
talking about the fringe playoff team instead.
It's not a bad argument, I just think with all the teams in college
athletics, it's almost impossible to eliminate it no matter what system you
have.
