      One thing we have seen through the bowls and yesterday is whoever 
wins the NC game will be indeed crowned the NC but will not be the clear 
cut best team in the country.  If LSU wins there could be as many as six 
teams that could make a very strong case that they are the best team.  
Even if LSU loses it would hard pressed to just declare them the best 
team in the country.  My opinion is there is no one right now today 
playing any better in the country than USC.  They are probably better 
now than when they played NU. 


     The problem is I doubt we are going to see a playoff system anytime 
soon.  When it does happen it won't be because it will be more fair, it 
will put a little more finality on things, it will be good for the game, 
or anything like that.  The only way that anything is going to change is 
the powers that be will have to be convinced they will make more money 
with a playoff system than they are now with the current Bowl system.  
My best guess would be no one has been able to show them they would make 
more money with a playoff so we continue to do things the current way.
