Not Jon, but I think it's somewhere in the middle. I personally don't feel
like he's going to be our best starter but I do think he's better than he
showed last night.
He's never seem to have overpowering stuff and is one of those pitchers that
has a lot of slow breaking pitches. In my opinion, outside of Dorn of
course who pitched a great game last night, Jennings is going to have a
killer year. He really developed after having trouble throwing strikes
early in his career. Last year he was a big help down the stretch as a
middle reliever and I think by the end of the year we might even say he's
the best guy in the rotation (although maybe not after Johnny's performance
last night).
I won't give up on Weber, in summer ball he was 7-0 with a 0.80 ish ERA and
he really looked like he'd found his groove. The biggest problem yesterday
was his inability to throw strikes. He got behind in the count a lot and
even walked a couple. Pitching from behind a count is always difficult,
because you usually have to groove one in there so you don't walk anyone.
Hope that helps.
FYI, they're going to play the rest of today's game and tomorrow's game
starting at 3:00pm and both are available online for free. Pribanic will be
the starter of the second game and he's a JUCO guy who seems to have decent
stuff for a 4th starter.
