Bobby stated that he was 'tired'. He also felt that it was time for
him as his son, Pat Knight could take over a decent team and see what
he could do with them this year. TT is young, so rather than have Pat
go through growing pains of learning how to be a head coach next year
when they could potentially make a run, he can go through it this year.
That... and can you imagine what would have happened had Bobby Knight
said "I'm retiring at the end of this season"? It would have been open
season on Knight from every reporter ever.
"What was going through your mind when you threw that chair in 1985?"
"Did you mean to get fired from Indiana"?
"Have you ever hunted with Dick Cheney?"
"Compare yourself to Dean Smith?"
"What do you think Mother Theresa thinks of your coaching methods'?
Who are we kidding? There was no other way for him to do it.
