I also would love to see the basketball program do well. But I have
seen two posts on what it would take to spur interest in the program.
One said 4-5 National Championships. Well, to this point only Wooden
has done that at UCLA so that is out of the question. You indicate it
will take going to the NCAA regularly. Your goals aren't quite as high
as the other person's goals but if it really takes that then what I have said
about Husker fans is real and true. NU could have some darn good
basketball teams and not go to the NCAA. I like Doc Sadler but to ask
him to take NU to the NCAA on a regular basis is really asking a lot. It
is always going to be very difficult to bring in the top basketball players
in the country to NU. The biggest reason is tradition and tradition takes
many years to build. If you were a premier talent and NU offered you a
basketball scholarship and Duke, North Carolina, or the like offered you
one, where would you go? With that said I do indeed have an interest in
the program and wish Doc Sadler the best. I would like to see one day
NU can at least consistently finish in the upper half of the Big 12.
