[Husker] Why is Clemson favored?

I have to say (with admitted bias) that I've been watching a lot of bowl
games this year and have come to one very obvious (to me) conclusion.
The QB/WR play in other conferences AREN'T EVEN CLOSE to that of the Big
XII. It's not quality of defense. QBs missing WIDE OPEN receivers,
receivers dropping balls hitting right in their hands. "Ducks" thrown up in
the air and receivers having to stop their routes to wait for the ball
everywhere.
In the Big XII, that RARELY happens. 90% of the time if the receiver's open
he's going to get the ball and in stride to move (and a VERY decent
percentage when he's not that open), whereas it seems other places it's the
exact opposite, just 10% of the time they're going to get a perfect ball.
I've said this already, but I believe this is the best compilation of QB
talent one conference has EVER seen. Just my opinion tho. In the Big XII,
great throws IN TRAFFIC against 5-6 DB sets are a regular thing, not so in
most other conferences.
I am also of the opinion that Joe would be all conference in almost any
other conference (besides SEC & Tebow love) and in the Big XII he's not even
Honorable Mention. When you have a conference where Graham Harrell is HM,
you've got something.
Do I think SEC/ACC defenses are generally better than Big XII? Yes, but a
LOT closer than you think and certainly not enough to overcome the huge gap
in offenses between the conferences.
I said 42-24 ish earlier and I'm sticking by it. I'm generally a pretty
strong "defense wins games" guy, but I just think you're talking about too
much disparity.

True, but you can bet that Clemson fans are making exactly the opposite
argument: "Nebraska has good offensive stats because no one in the Big 12
plays defense."
Someone else brought up the point that if Joe Ganz were playing in the ACC,
he would be AC QB by a landslide. Joey is the #21 ranked QB by rating and
#12 by offensive stats. The top QB in the ACC is #52 and if falls off from
there (I think Skinner from Wake Forest is their top QB).
Personally, the more I find out about Clemson, the better I feel about the
game. Conversely, I don't understand how Clemson is a 2.5 pt favorite.
When I bet against Vegas, it probably means either I know something they
don't, or they know something I don't. Since I am looking at the stats, it
is obvious I am missing something.
Can anyone answer why Clemson is favored?

More in-depth stats comparisons.....

Basically, Clemson's pass defense is ranked so high because they
didn't play any real good offenses, plus they played against lousy
quarterbacks.
