I, just for myself, certainly do give a rat's ass who we play out of conference. I hate the games against the smaller, less representative, teams. I get no pleasure from playing them or from winning them. I wouldn't pay a dime to attend one of these games and wouldn't go if offered a free ticket. It should be beneath us to schedule these games, but it sure isn't. And yes, I understand all the business (read money) reasons why we do it. I don't get any pleasure saying how we had an 8-4 year knowing that 3 of those wins were against the small teams, and 2 more against the lowly from our own conference. The only representative team we beat with a winning record was 7-5 Kansas. I felt it was a good year showing progress in many areas, but not because we were 8-4. That's just smoke.
