Chizik may do fine, but the Auburn fans down here are not impressed. Chizik
was not on the short list of people they were looking at when Tubbie was
fired.
I think Auburn had a SP experience where they fired a coach and could not
find anyone interested...and it serves them right.
I can say I am not anit-Auburn. In fact I am an alum and fan. But they have
problems with a big booster running that program.
By the way, the backstory on this one is really interesting.
1) Publicly Tubberville resigned, but was given his severance out of
respect. However, Tubberville's mother has now gone on record saying that he
told her he was fired.
*Warning- this one is rumor
2) Someone in administration told me that Mark Richt IGA's coach and
personal friend of Tubberville) contacted Tubberville the week prior to the
AU game and told him that someone had contacted GA and told them the play
signals that Auburn was using.
3) The students at Auburn had a sit-in protest on the University President's
lawn last week protesting the firing of Tubbie.
