On the other hand, Chizik did coach (Defensive Coordinator) at Auburn from
2002~2004 and led the team to some impressive rankings. Then he moved to
Texas before accepting his first Head Coach position in Ames.
-----Scoring----Total Def-----Team Record
PPG YPG
2002 13 26 9- 4
2003 9 5 8- 5
2004 1 5 13- 0
while at Texas...
2005 8 10 13- 0
2006 26 23 9- 3
fast forward to Ames...
2007 111 102 3- 9
2008 63 42 2-10
I can see where some think the Gator-alum might be a good fit for Auburn.
One would think that he knows what the expectations are in Auburn.
Chizik certainly had good stock appreciation after 2004 and 2005 seasons.
His HC leadership at Iowa State did not help his appeal.
Not all 'great' DC tend to have what it takes to make a 'great' HC. We
have a similar experiment going on in Lincoln...sure hope that Bo continues
to improve his HC skills.
Go Big Red!

Pat may be entirely correct, but I feel obliged to say that in his
first two years at ISU Chizek had little chance to prove his coaching
prowess one way or the other.
