Hey, Bob. Whatever that is that you're smoking, would you be willing
to part with some of it? Or is there a color adjustment on those
glasses of yours. I think you may have it up in the red hue too far.
I do agree with you to some extent. I think we'll have to see a
couple of things, and they both have to do with Missouri, since they
are the team to beat in the North. First, is Daniel's replacement as
good and can he run that offense as efficiently as Chase did? Second,
we've seen that teams can put pressure on the Missouri QB and force
turnovers (Okie State and Kansas ran really good defensive schemes
that got Daniel running) - will Nebraska have the horses to be able to
do that next year and in two years?
Somebody mentioned that the outcome of the Mizzou game may have been
different if we had played them later in the year. Next year we play
them as the first conference game, which means we need to be ready
early in October. With the teams we play in September, I'm not sure
we're going to see a similar offense - certainly not the speed - with
Florida Atlantic, Arkansas State, and Louisiana Lafayette. And we
travel to Columbia.
But based on what happened this year, I don't see anyone else in the
North that will pose really big problems for us. Kansas won't be
better, K-State is a long ways off, Colorado always plays us tough in
Boulder but they won't be much better next year, and Iowa State -
nuff said. So, Bob, I don't think you're that far off. I'm much less
certain about the South. I don't see things changing there either,
but that's not good.
Nick
