The national perception of the ACC is that it is a weak conference this year. Clemson is seen as a weak team. If we win it will be expected. The #4 or 5 team from the Big XII (toughest conference in football) beating the #7 team in the ACC (weak conference). At least playing FSU, GT, or Miami gives NU some national recognition. If we were to slip up and lose to Clemson people are going to say "well I guess they weren't as good as we thought". I dont think this is a good situation for NU at this time. Besides the Gator should be able to give us a better team then that. I think we might have been better off going to the Alamo or Sun now.

"I am hearing from some guys at Bighuskerfan.com that NU will play Clemson
in the Gator Bowl. Really disappointing if you ask me. Clemson is like the
number 7 team in the ACC. This really sucks."
Clemson is 4-2 since they removed Tommy Bowden and replaced him with interim
head coach Dabo Swinney, who is going to be their permanent coach. He's
young and fired up, like Bo, and everyone seems very happy in Death Valley.
As for the Gator Bowl, they'd love to have Papa Bowden on CBS, but FSU has
been on a slide as the season progressed. Also, FSU has played twice in Jax this
season and one of those, against Colorado, attendance was about 40k. So FSU fans
may be fatigued.
For Nebraska and Clemson, they met 27 years ago in the 1982 Orange Bowl, and
with the 22-15 victory, Danny Ford and the Tigers claimed the MNC. Also,
Clemson, like Nebraska, is known to travel very well, and a full stadium makes
everyone happy.
