 I wholeheartedly agree with you, Jon.

Notwithstanding the obvious arguments why the Huskers were incredibly deserving of a share of the MNC that year, the good news is Michigan ended up with that [ugly] AP trophy that appeared to come from some seventh-grade wood shop class, while the Huskers received the Sears Trophy with its Waterford crystal football!

Michigan and Nebraska in 1997 were so close to even it was ridiculous. I stand by the idea that if the media schmucks are going to say the coaches gave Osborne a gift, then it works both ways. The media gave a gift to Michigan because they hadn't won a title since 1948 and wanted to sell more media crap.?
