I spent the afternoon at Carolina Panthers stadium in Charlotte at the VA. Tech vs. East Carolina game.  The heat was absolutely brutal and the humidity was even higher than usual for Charlotte (a very humid place) because of all the rain from TS Fay this week.  East Carolina is a better team than most think and Virginia Tech is not as good as most think.  Tech offense is mediocre at best. They lost their top 4 receivers and top 3 RBs from last year and it shows.  Their QB is a redshirt Fresh (I think, I'll have to verify) and plays like it.  Their offense today (first game keep in mind) was unimaginative and completely ineffective against ECU.  Most of their points came from the defense.   They have a better defense than offense, but it is far from dominating or intimidating.  ECU ran and passed right through them in the second half, particularly the fourth quarter and it may have been the heat, it was killer.  Tech special teams let them down several times, and cost them the game at the end (blocked punt run back for the winning TD).

Not having seen Nebraska yet, Tech is nothing special, but may get better in the next few weeks.  Don't chalk this one up in the L column yet.
