Hey sports fans,
I am torn. I read the local hype and I am sure we are national champs. Then I see that 7 of the top ten offenses, mostly the evil spread variety, are in the Big 12 and I become convinced that we are doomed.
So how about this Saturday. Right now I am on an upswing. NU wins 37 to 10.
What do you think?

This is probably too late, but I just have to say that this sort of

I say 48-7, (35-7 at the half) with at least one special teams or
defensive score.
The crowd in the 1st quarter will be as loud as any crowd since the
Osborne era, but by the end of the 3rd quarter they'll be much quieter,
and worried that the defense hasn't been tested yet and is totally
unprepared for the spread offense that is taking over the conference.

Eh. I am thinking 44-24, NU.
I see an uncomfortably close game where we score a late cosmetic touchdown or so, but never really 'control' WMU.

Bob, I respect your opinion and I'm very sad to see you go. Not because I
agree with you all the time, but I've always respected the way you present
another opinion in what usually is a respectful and well thought out manner
and if nothing else serve as a buffer to our otherwise very rose-colored
glasses.
It's unfortunate that so many adults can't deal with hearing an opinion
contrary to their own. I have seen MANY posts attacking your character,
however you don't seem to stoop to their level. It's gotten to the point
that anytime you post anything there are several adolescent minded
individuals who just can't wait to attack and nitpick every word you say.
I wish you the best of luck in whatever you devote to with your sudden
increase of free time.
Thanks!

I was going through Yahoo Search to find some information on walk
ons and found this link:
http://www.cornnation.com/2008/8/24/600272/do-walk-ons-make-a-differe
I am not sure who this guy thinks he is but he must think he is
more important than he really is and feels he knows more than he really
does. Anyone can post anything on the Internet and doesn't have to have
a clue as in this case.
We all know who he is talking about when he says, "However, I must
admit there is one list member that I've had in my kill filter for a few
years. Whether it's illformed logic or incomprehensible posts that try
to get you to click on a link (much like most of the messages in my spam
folder), his posts seem to be 98% (or more) noise. So my mailbox
deletes them immediately. That doesn't, however, delete the
responses...so sometimes I still see debates he starts". Then he goes
on and displays part of one of my posts.
Mr. Nolan, I am respectfully leaving the list. There is obviously
no room for opinions here other than those that drink Big Red Kool-Aid
and swallow it all hook, line, and sinker. Anyone that disagrees with
that is, in this case, filtered or at least aggressively differed with.
I have for the most part enjoyed my time here as there are some good
conversations.
Now the so called "Husker Mike" can take his filter off because he
won't have me to put up with any more. He voices his opinion on the URL
I posted. I assume he believes he knows what he is talking about.
Thanks for everything and Go Big Red.

30-17. I just don't think there's any chance we blow them out, but I think
we'll control the game. I think you'll see a lot more ground game and less
swiss-cheese defense.

I hate to sound negative, but I am concerned about this game. They may be in the MAC, but WMU is a pretty good team.
Considering we don't know much about the Huskers (new coach, new talent, replacing a lot of players), I have some doubts about how much we can control both sides of the line.
Do I think the Huskers walk out with a "W"? Yes. Do I think the game will be put away by halftime? Nope.
Hope I'm wrong.

It should be noted that I have one of the worst records ever in predicting
games. A friend of mine runs an annual email contest to predict various
games he picks each week.
He usually finishes in the top 10%, I finished dead last two years in a row!

What I hope for the game.
1. We win by at least 14 pts and that the outcome isn't in doubt after
the first series of the 2nd half (get some snaps for the back-ups)
2. That we end the game with at least a +1 in the turnover margin --
get the defense some confidence.
3. That Londen Fryar has a good day and makes us wish the past had been
a bit different.

Bob,
Sorry to hear you go. We almost never see eye to eye, but I would still like to see you stay. You do generate controversy.
I'm not sure why you are upset. You do provide a number of perspectives quite different from the "norm" but did you really expect others to not react?
I did insult you once and am retroactively sorry I did so. That was my bad and I shouldn't have done so.
Like losing those who provided good information, your ability to provide points of controversy will be missed and the board will be diminished.
Good luck,
Duane Feldman

Bob,
Just to set the record straight, I am not "Husker Mike" listed in your Yahoo message. I also am very sorry to see you leave this list forever, again.
I hope you find a friendly list to belong to that treats you with the respect you deserve. You might check GOBUFFS.com for starters.
I would like to offer a top ten list of subjects to avoid disputing if you want to be treated kindly by us obscene Husker fans....
10. That "best fans in the world" thing
9. Should we change that N on the helmet
8. Did Buster Rhymes play 7 or 8 years at OU
7. Is CU a rival
6. Anything referring to Pederson or Callahan
5. Are runzas better than "that pizza" at the game
4. ahemmmm Walk-ons
3. Officiating calls in the 1994 FSU Orange Bowl
2. officiating calls at any game we lost
and finally,
1. Disputing anything done or said by anyone with a two letter first name or the title Dr. preceding his name.
I hope this helps and if you wish to comment off the list feel free.
Mike - the other one.
Can't wait for saturday.
