I seldom write to the list and prefer to just get my information from others who write. However, I must make a statement. During the summer months when there is not much Husker information shared, I usually find some good Husker news from books.

I read two Husker books this summer and want to pass this on to you all. The first book was "Forever Red" by Steve Smith. Steve is a frequent poster on this list. Folks, he knows his stuff and as I worked my way through this book, I kept thinking to myself........"This book is about me". I also grew up in a small Nebraska town and experienced many of the same things that Steve portrayed in his book. Excellent work. Thank you Steve.

The second book I just finished is Jon Johnson's ..."A Sea of Red". This fine piece of reading is a wonderful replacement for the annual press guide that is put out by the University of Nebraska. As Jon stated, the press guide is so big and so full of statistics that overwhelm me, This book fits the bill perfectly. I might add that Jon is not the only writer in this new annual guide. He utilizes Mike Jaixen for a couple of the articles. Mike is also a regular contributor to the list. There are many other writers who have contributed articles to Jon's book with various interesting accounts. Thank you Jon.

Any Husker fan would greatly enjoy either or both of these books. They are well written and have very informative articles. Just the thing for slow summer sports.
