     I agree with you here 100%.  I believe the walk on program is 
perception and PR more than it is an essential element.  Oh sure, every 
now and then a diamond in the rough will emerge from the walk on 
section.  But, my point is how many times is that diamond in the rough 
been a team changing experience?  I truly believe the Osborne W/L record 
would have been no different without walk ons.  It just gives people the 
warm fuzzies when a walk on makes good.
