It depends on the player.  If it's a special player who won't finish his eligibility anyway, you'd consider it.  Especially since a difference maker at 85% might be better than his replacement at 100%.  But that would be the exception to the rule.

A corollary to that situation would be if the coach didn't expect to be coaching the player in his final year of eligibility, but that borders on negligent.
