And Mike hits on an important fact when considering the legacy of
Osborne, referring you back to the original post in this thread.  The
Solich selection as head coach didn't seem to affect Dr. Tom's legacy
as head coach; regardless of whether Solich was let go too soon or too
late, there was a general feeling in the fan base that things had
deteriorated to some degree under Frank.  Despite whether there's any
truth to that, the fact is that Dr. Tom didn't suffer greatly for hand
picking a successor (though there were some negatives, and you still
hear them today).

And I would agree that his legacy as Administrator of the Athletic
Dept. will be tied to Pelini; however, I hope folks take a look at
many of the other things that have changed in the last 9 months in
that Dept., regardless of whether we go 5-7 or 9-3 this year.  I think
bringing Dr. Tom in at that point last year was near genius.  Somebody
ought to get some credit for that.
