I attended this meeting of the Chamber of Commerce in Columbus, NE. Bo spoke for about 45 minutes and then answered some questions. The crowd was very enthusiastic as he spoke of what his vision is for the football team and the University. One comment I remember quite vividly was about how much he realizes what football means to this State. He said he has coached at schools that had a lot of tradition, etc., but he's has not seen or experienced the depth of the love of the tradition like he's seen at Nebraska. There were a lot of heads nodding in the crowd as he spoke. I believe he touched a lot of people with those comments.

He spoke about the former players and their connection to the University and to Tom Osborne. He has the utmost respect for Tom and said he is so fortunate to work with him. He also spoke in reference to the former players from Nebraska. Bo has attended reunions at Ohio State, and he said he's never seen the amount of interest from former players there like he's experienced from former players at Nebraska. He said that is something you don't see anywhere else and how special that is.

Bo said that his day during school season, as far as his kids were concerned, would start around 8, not earlier. He said he thought it was extremely important for the sraff that wanted to take their kids to school, to do so. He said it's hard enough to have family time the way it is and that taking his kids to school is a very important thing to him. He wants to give that opportunity to his staff too.

Jeff Jamrog, Govenor Heimeman and some others who I didn't recognize attended as well. Someone made a comment to the Govenor that it was a good thing he won the election or we may not have had Bo as our coach right now. That comment got a alot of laughter and applause! And he also said that the "volunteer" summer conditioning would be starting the first part of June, with emphasis on the "volunteer"--drew laughter as well.

All in all, Bo is a passionate coach and he knows full well what the expectations are here at Nebraska. It was an enjoyable evening!
