Absolutely amazing the Huskers wouldn't have one pick before the fifth
round. I am not one that necessarily believes where your players place
in the draft is reflective of the kind of college team you had/have.
However, to have your first player not go until the fifth round when you
are supposedly one of the premier programs in the country doesn't speak
very well. It is a good thing some things are in the past.

Some interesting stats clipped from an Athletic Department email I
received regarding the 3 Huskers selected in this year's NFL draft...
Of particular note, to me at least, is that no Husker offensive linemen
have been selected for the past 3 years? That's some "pro" system that
we were cultivating...although I'm sure some will argue that those would
have been Solich recruits, etc., etc., etc.

Zach Bowman's selection marks the 11th time in the last 15 years
Nebraska has had at least one defensive back selected in the NFL Draft.

Carl Nicks is the first Nebraska offensive lineman drafted since center
Josh Sewell was taken in the sixth round of the 2004 draft.

Bo Ruud's selection marked the seventh time in the past 10 seasons
Nebraska has had at least one linebacker selected in the NFL Draft.

GBR,
