I would think that in sales frequent performance evaluations are
relevant, whereas quarterly reviews of, say, the football coach are
almost meaningless, because for large portions of the year little is
happening that is directly measurable. What would you evaluate the
football coach on between May 1st and August 1st, for example?
I would consider fundraising a 'sales' job in that respect, (In fact,
fundraising is one of the hardest sales jobs there is.) And one of the
largest components of the AD's job is fundraising.
