I did not say that it was over the top for fans to believe that their team COULD win every game. I said that it was over the top for fans to EXPECT their team to win every game. I also think that we will win a minimum of 8 games but would not be suprised if they won them all. I believe we have the talent to do it but the ball never bounces the right way all the time. It would be an upset for us to beat Oklahoma but what the hell every season has to have an upset. Mizzu and KU are at home and we usually beat both at home. VT is an up and down team (and I mean week to week not year to year) so you never know what your going to get with them. Tech has a great offense but a suspect defense (same as every year) and the rest of the games are very winable.

I dont believe he is over the top. I think you should believe you can win or what is the purpose of playing? He wants to get them to believe in themselves. He has to have every player believing that they can win or they will not. It would be over the top for us as fans to expect them to win every game but if a coach does not have his players believing they can win then he is not doing his job.

So on the flip side: it is OK for the coaches and players to believe they can win all the games, but it is not OK for the fans to believe the same?

I'm not sure I understand that logic. [g]

PS: Of course I don't expect UNL to win all their games this year. I do think the talent and current coaching staff can put together 9 wins and I expect them to do so, even considering the competition. I also agree that the coach has to put the team in the frame of mind of expecting to win every game, or they won't. We're really on the same page here.
