Two parts to this message I want to address: First: I'm not sure how the defensive coaches can be bigger knuckleheads than I already think. Coz took some decent athletes and put them in a system where they had to "read and react" but the reads took too long so the players were already behind when they started to play. The worst defense in the history of Nebraska football says it all.
Second: I prefer to think of myself as a "realist" as I suggest 9 wins is both doable and the least acceptable number (no, I don't advocate firing anyone if we don't win 9 in year 1). Meanwhile, those who suggest 8 or fewer wins, I term "Pessimists."
Expecting a BCS game, while not impossible, I would consider optimistic.
Now Pelini may be over the top when he tells the players that if they don't believe they can win every game on the schedule, they should leave the program. But I like his attitude.
Its all in your perspective,
Duane Feldman

What we might also find out is that the coaching staff
might be even bigger knuckleheads than we already
think. Especially if the optimists who talk of nine
or ten wins turn out to be right.
