To call 9 wins conservative might be a bit of a stretch. I would tend to
put 9 wins in the "HIGHLY optimistic" camp.

Looking at the schedule, here are my predictions on April 8, which are
sure to change by the start of the season.

Western Michigan (WIN)
San Jose State (WIN)
New Mexico State (WIN)
Virginia Tech (LOSS)
Missouri (LOSS)
@ Texas Tech (50/50 WIN OR LOSS)
@ Iowa State (WIN)
Baylor (WIN)
@ Oklahoma (LOSS)
Kansas (50/50 WIN OR LOSS)
@ Kansas State (WIN)
Colorado (50/50 WIN OR LOSS)

By my math that has me down for 6 wins, 3 games that could be a win or
loss and 3 games that are losses.

I say given what is coming back on offense, the lingering concerns on
defense and that it is Pelini's first season that 8-4 or 7-5 with this
schedule (which on paper in April is fairly tough) is a realistic
expectation and that as long as we are competitive in the losses that
most fans will be just fine with that result.

But there it is forever between now and September, so a lot could change
between now and then.

Just my .02 cents.
