[Husker] Wish for the list - Bowling!

As with all sports, the participants take it very seriously.

It's what they do!

I've watched a few matches this year on the tube. They certainly take it
seriously. As with all sports, the gals get some momentum and believe
they're invincible. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the Big Red snag the
tournament.

Actually, the ladies head coach at the local high school (Harlem) used to
work for me. She had taken the team to Illinois State High School
championships...6 times in the last 8 years. Winning 4! She, Gail Flock,
was assistant in the early years then took over as HC in 2002.

One gal, Tina Peak, was heavily recruited. I am not sure how scholarships
each school offers, but the best bowlers can earn scholarships. Tina ended
up going to Central Missouri and she is a grad asst there now. Other Harlem
grads moved on to Central Missouri, too.

So, yeah, I follow it a little bit. If Nebraska does not win it, I'll cheer
for Central Missouri.

Have a pleasant day.

Steve,

What a great post! I work with a young man who grew up in California
and went to UNL in the mid-90's. I asked him how he ended up at
Nebraska. It turned out that his older brother had gone to Nebraska
on a BOWLING scholarship. Josh followed his brother to UNL. We
compare Husker notes all the time.

Thanks for the great post. I'll look for the bowling ladies to be on
ESPNU!

GBR!

Lynette

Is bowling a scholarship sport? If so how many do they have? Anyone know
what sports get scholarships and how many?

Steve, It must have been a slow sports night Wednesday or Thursday ;)) I
don't remember which. anyway ESPNU had Maryland Eastern shore and Delaware
State on. So I watched it. it was very entertaining to watch the teams. They
had there little cheers when a bowler would get ready to bowl. I didn't
realize that bowling was a Varsity sport though.
