I agree Pederson wasn't fired solely because of da coach. Clearly the
Solich fiasco was a disaster. He had a lot of attrition and it absolutely
points to the top. There was an article it was due in large part to the
consultant he brought in that changed the culture but I wasn't there so I
can't speak authoritatively on that. I thought Pederson did a lot of good
and had Nebraska's best interests at heart when he was making some tough
decisions.
Pederson started the tunnel walk as associate athletic director for football
operations in 1994. Pedersons first budget in 2003 was 54.6 MM. In
2007-2008 when he was fired it was 66.7 million. He was reported as cutting
spending and reducing debt obligations while incurring an extra 50 million
expenditures in debt.
He was a key figure in reshaping the big 12 tv package and served as
chairman of the NCAA football issues committee.
It wasn't all rosey but it was far from doom and gloom.
