[Husker] Clarification

I tried out for the Huskers baseball team as a freshman in 1980. I wasn't
very good, in fact, I hadn't played organized baseball since I was in the
5th grade, but it was fun trying out. What I remember most was one of the
assistant coaches was a former Husker "star" baseball player. I could have
sworn his name was something like Joe Sugar, but I can't find his name
anywhere on the net. I probably have it wrong, or it could have been a
nickname.
Does anyone know whom I am talking about? He was a lot of fun.
