Well, I suppose if you compare the defensive
performance yesterday to the previous couple of weeks,
then yes, in comparison the defense played pretty good
yesterday.
However, I think the defense played merely adequate.
102 plays and 400+ yards were way too many to allow a
rather poor offensive team like Iowa State to have; at
some point, you need to stop them at some point.
When Bo Ruud made his interception, it was 3rd and
goal. Iowa State was threatening to pull within 1
score at that point. Great play by Grixby and Ruud,
but up to there, Bret Meyer was 5 for 6 and 58 yards
on that drive.
