Steve Octavien came to Callahan on Sunday to own up to
his statement:

Nebraska coach Bill Callahan said linebacker Steve
Octavien regrets postgame comments Saturday regarding
boos during the Huskers' 41-40 win over Ball State.

Callahan didn't agree with it and spoke with Octavien
on Sunday.

"He came up here on his own and he said, 'Coach, I
made a big mistake,' " Callahan said. "And I said,
'Steve, I've been there myself.' You're in the midst
of an emotional game, no one's really happy or
satisfied in terms of how we played.

"He said, 'I'm just trying to defend my coach and our
team.' I said, 'Well, there are other ways to go about
that.' But I don't think that was appropriate and we
talked at length about a lot of things in that
regard."
