[personal] [Husker] Who says you can't
change defensivecoordinators mid-season?

Absolutely true Scott. After the way he felt he was treated by Pedey, I
don't think there's any way we could have kept him. Even if he didn't have
a real shot, I think that if Pedey had made Pellini feel like he had a real
shot at the HC job, but SP just wanted to go in a different direction, then
maybe we'd have a shot at keeping him.
Fact of the matter is, you can't hire a head coach and then tell him he has
to keep Coach X and Coach Y. That's not fair to the HC at all. That being
said, there was only one guy BC wanted as his DC, his friend.
I was wondering what it would take, save Pedersen getting the boot, to bring
Pellini back. I would bet we'd have to pay him a truckload and a half to
come back (somewhere in the name of $5 mil or so, way more than we could
ever pay a DC) and name part of the stadium after him or something.
Then I wondered if it would be worth it. IMO, Pellini makes us instant MNC
contenders (at least by next year). I don't have a ton of cash, but I'd
throw some money into the Pellini fund.
DISCLAIMER: I'm positive that would never happen. I don't even think I'd
REALLY want it to happen, just being hypothetical and playing the 'What if'
game.
