[Husker] Thoughts

I am just going to throw a few things out there after sleeping on things and reading the morning paper. Someone, I think it was Mr. Gaule, stated this was the worst Husker defense in his lifetime. His lifetime being 23 years. My lifetime has been 57 years and after reading the morning paper I may have to agree. I can't seem to find the exact quote now but these last two weeks are the most most points given up in consecutive home games in the HISTORY of Memorial Stadium. Nebraska has had some pretty sad teams, as well as good teams, in the history of the stadium which opened October 20, 1923. If I calculate correctly that is 84 years. Below is an article from Steve Sipple about how the Huskers have achieved mediocrity.

There also were some pretty interesting scores yesterday. Colorado beat Miami of Ohio 42-0. Why is that significant? Ball State LOST its home opener to Miami of Ohio. Oklahoma State beat Texas Tech 49-45, not your typical defensive struggle either. Iowa State must not be very good or Toledo is better than I think. Toledo beat Iowa State 36-35. Former Husker coaches didn't fair so well either. Frankie got beat by Joe Glenn and Wyoming 34-33. Turner Gill's Buffalo teamlost to Baylor 34-21. Jerry Moore's Appalachian State after beating highly ranked Michigan lost to Wofford 42-31. Who the heck is Wofford?

I believe we are seeing the result of the scholarship limit. It is going to be very difficult to dominate in college football the way NU did for 30 plus years. We sometimes wonder about these upsets. I believe parity has set in.
