[Husker] just a few thoughts..

1.  I can't help but wonder "what might have been" had we recovered the fumbled kickoff in the second quarter and gone up 17-7.  On the same play the USC return man was down for several minutes.  The current issue of SI plays up the incident as a motivator for SC.  Would things have played out differently?  Probably not, i.e. we likely lose 49-38.  But subtle things have big impacts in college football.  Who knows?  

2.  Right now there are four elite teams:  SC, LSU, Florida and Oklahoma.  West Virginia and Ohio State are a half a notch below.  Texas has something to prove following a near loss to CF. With enough work and determination I could still see us wind up in the 10-15 ranking.  

3.  It was very impressive that this team didn't give up in the fourth quarter.  The fact that they didn't speaks well of the players and the coaches.

4.  Ball State will be no patsy.  They beat a respectable Navy team this weekend.  I'm sure they feel they can play with Nebraska.
