In my opinion, there is an enormous problem with this reasoning.  The 
previous coaching staff was let go largely because of their inability to 
recruit top-flight talent.  If we are still having that problem in 
Callahan's 4th year, then I don't know how much progress has really been 
made.  I realize that we played the best team in the country last night, 
but the difference between USC and Nebraska was astounding.  If you want 
to chalk that difference up to talent alone, then it means Callahan has 
not recruited nearly as much talent as some would like to believe.  At 
some point, the "other team had better players" excuse isn't going to 
cut it any more.
