[Husker] Concerned

I attended the game with my Dad this weekend. His seats are in the first row of the east balcony so no one was in my field of vision, unfortunately. The gaps that the SC O-line opened were bigger than huge, they were enormous. When I think back on it, it reminds me of the 1995 Nebraska team. So much talent and speed, that no one could keep up with them. IMO the only way SC gets beat this year is if they beat themselves. The are an outstanding team.

During my 8 hour ride back to Minnesota I had a lot of time to think. My concern is that we were pushed around like toys out on the field. The D did not touch their backs until they were 10+ yards down field. SC's D-line was catching our running backs from behind, we had no other pass plays that work other than slants? I have given Callahan a lot of support during many discussions with people, but I do not know how much more I can defend him and his staff. I did not see any attempt of imagination on offense or defense in the game.

Reading the Omaha article by Lee B. sounds so true. The part that concerns me the most though is the defense. I thought they signed players that had a lot of speed? USC is supersonic and NU is trying to find a round wheel. The gap in talent and playmakers is huge. I know they are the #1 team, but that is where NU wants to be I hope.

Someone tell me what needs to be done. Is the tradition of NU football gone, will we become OU and change coaches for the next 10 years and hope to get lucky and find a great coach, can Callahan adjust and use the talent that he has and not his NFL playbook since he does not have NFL players, will the mighty Coz ever come up with a clever scheme for shutting a more talented team down? I am very concerned for what the future of Nebraska Football will be in the 1-5 years?

Let me know.
Ryan
