[Husker] A Word In Edgewise, If You Please...

I've been reading the exchanges about the pro's and con's of this
coach and that coach and who did what and to whom.
Given the prevailing circumstances (other than coaches) on both
campuses, I can't believe the outcome of yesterday's game would've
been much different if Nebraska's head coach had been Vince Lombardi,
Tom Landry, or Bill Parcells.
USC had the better players. Period.
This is not exactly a new phenomenon. It happened regularly during
the late Seventies and Eighties almost every time we played Oklahoma.
It happened last year in Los Angeles.
I do think yesterday's game might have turned out quite differently
if Dr. Tom had been able to stay at the helm because the
circumstances on the Lincoln campus would have been dramatically
different - - but he couldn't, all our wishes notwithstanding.
Most of us, myself included, are disappointed in yesterday's result
only because our expectations were not in line with those nefarious
"facts on the ground" which have a nasty way of intruding themselves
into our unwilling collective consciousness.
