I am well aware that a great number of fans believe Bo Pelini walks on water and no one can coach defense like Bo. I also am aware there are a great number of people that wanted him for Head Coach at the time Frank was fired and some would still like him for Head Coach, I am aware of those things but frankly don't understand those things.
I have said and am on record as saying Bo Pelini is an above average, maybe even great, defensive coach. I'll certainly give him that but that and that alone doesn't mean I want him for an assistant coach and certainly am not interested in him being Head Coach. Bo appeared to be here for one of a couple of reasons. Those being to be on a fast track to become a Head Coach or get back to the NFL. I never got the drift he was interested in Husker tradition or a long term stay. He made the statement when Solich left he was going to be named Head Coach or he was gone. That shows an enormous amount of commitment to the Husker program. To this day Pelini hasn't been a Head Coach. He wasn't even the Head Defensive Coordinator at Oklahoma. I have to believe if Bo was such great Head Coaching material someone would have jumped on it by now. There are a lot smarter football minds out there than anyone on this list including me and he still isn't a Head Coach. He has no Head Coaching experience on his resume at any level which could have something to do with it.
As far as the comment "Pelini "bled" more NU loyalty than anyone on staff today, including Pederson" there is only a couple of ways anyone would know that. You would have to know Pelini and the members of this current staff personally or you would have to know someone with accurate inside information that is trustworthy. Maybe you do. As far as Pederson we may disagree with his decisions but I certainly believe in his own mind he has the best interests of NU athletics at the forefront. I sometimes question his tactics and decisions but I would never question his loyalty.
