The recurring theme here in NJ is, Schiano's teams (Rutgers) are now as good as they are because of:
 - the work ethic he instills in the team
 - his ability to convince NJ players to stay in NJ and play for him

Certainly the latter is an endorcement of his recruiting ability.  Now, it's easy to tell a NJ kid "you see how Rutgers is doing - come play for us".   however, a few years ago, when RU was the dregs of the Big East, it was much tougher, but he was able to do it.
