I agree insofar as BC has higher ranked recruiting classes. However, if your conjecture is correct that coaching is simply a function of getting good athletes, then the logical conclusion is that BC should have a higher winning percentage than TO. IIRC TO was 254-49-6? over 25 years for an average of 10-2, so when do we see the fruits?
I know that the common argument is that BC is left working from FS's recruits and he doesn't have his in the system yet. But FS only had one season with less than 9-3 so they must not have been TOO bad.
So I do think that there is more than just recruiting involved even though it does play a large factor.
FWIW, didn't the 85 player limit predate TO's three national titles? I have always maintained that the limit helped TO since TO didn't rely on highly rated recruiting classes. By reducing the number of scholarships, it improved the quality of the walkons. Since NU did walkons better than anyone else, it improved our program relative to others.

I can't argue the above. It makes sense. Another reason is BC has less scholarships to work with than did TO. I think BC has recruited very well so far.
