[Husker] Thoughts from Winston-Salem

Good points, but I believe Nebraska got boned on the overturned interception near the end- it looked to me like a catch, but I have not had a chance to see the tape yet. And a certain tight end who shall remain nameless (I don't want to be chastised for calling anyone player out by name here) dropped a critical pass yet again and general almost cost NU the game with some other bonehead plays, but other than that I believe they played well considering the road game. I am a firm believer that under Callahan this team seems to play to the level of its competition quite often.
I am still recovering from the sunburn I received there, we get humid days up here in NY but not 93 degree humid days. It was brutal, and the fact that the stadium ran out of water before halftime did not help (although they seemed to have a bunch after the game somehow).
As a fan I've been to a few road games now (Kansas, Orange Bowl, Penn State, Pitt, Notre Dame, and now this one) and I'd say the folks in NC were about as nice as any I've met at any of those other places. Penn State fans were BY FAR the worst of that bunch, but I didn't really run into a single person in Wake who was a dope. It was almost as if they really don't care all that much about football, and are in fact waiting for the basketball season. Of course, I forgot to wear my red shirt, but I did have on an Australian Open-type towel under my red hat to block the sun (didn't help much).
At least I lost 10 pounds from sweating and now battling some crazy stomach bug I got there ;-)

It was hot. How hot? Damn hot. Nice little stadium, not a bad seat in the
house. This is a basketball school that has taken to football more
passionately in just a very short time due to their recent success. The
bottom line from the game:
Nebraska is not one iota a better football team than Wake Forest in any
facet of the game. They were dead even. It may very well have gone badly
for us if Wake's quarterback had not gotten hurt last year. He is very
good. His backup played like a backup, and at times, so did our starter.
The interference calls / non-calls were very close and those plays get
called either way all the time. Wake had their chance after the turnover
inside the 10 to tie or go ahead, but came away with nothing and that was
that.
