[personal] Re: [Husker] time problem

It is not the length of the individual game but the length of the season combined with the speed of the play, granted most football plans are pretty quick which leaves a similar amount of down time as with baseball, but the fact that everyone on the field is involved to some degree with every play creates a since of more going on (I know that in baseball different player have different assignments that while the ball may not come to them they still are required to run and back up other players on the field). Conversely, in baseball it is focused on only a few players with some having the possibility of never having the play come to them. Granted baseball can be exciting especially with close games, the end of year pennant runs, but the fact that football has a shorter season, leaving the fan with a more immediate win/loss/playoff/bowl game return on viewer-ship/satisfaction creates a greater since of enjoyment in several fans. Additionally if I choose to watch every Huskers FB game this year I will watch approximately 46 hours, conversely if I have the same enthusiasm for my Royals I will watch over 300 hours.

Just my thoughts

AMEN brother! Actually, a baseball-hater friend of mine told me he doesn't
like watching the games because they take too long.

I went to each sport (MLB, NFL) and compared the average gametime length and
baseball was the shortest by at about 20 min. Just thought that was
interesting.

MLB average Game length 2 hours 47 Minutes
NFL average Game length 3 hours 5 minutes

I found these last year, don't know how/if it changed this year.

I never understand football fans who complain about how slow baseball is.
When you've been watching baseball for six months, the first football game
of the season -- while a wonderful, WONDERFUL thing -- looks slower than
double-bogey golf.
