[Husker] 2007 Game plan

I stand corrected, Andy. I was indeed thinking of Taylor (I have Alzheimers but I forgot I have it). As Andy pointed out Taylor was a one star with limited offers (SMU sounds right).

Tomich walked on, albeit not strictly for athletic reasons. He suffered dyslexia and didn't qualify academically. I think Indiana also offered him a Prop 48 scholarship (or told him he would have a scholarship waiting if he completed prep school) but I'm pretty sure that if other coaches knew he would become an AA, the line of offers would have been a LOT longer.

Neil Smith (hard to believe now) didn't have any other Div 1 offers as he weighed under 200 lbs as a DT. He had no stars in his ranking IIRC.

I think Duane meant Aaron Taylor, not Aaron Graham. Graham was fairly highly
recruited. taylor was a 1 star, NU had to beat out SMU for Taylor, both
TTech and TCU (when they were pretty bad) declined to offer Taylow he was
generously listed at 6'1"

Tomich was a walkon, Smith was a serious project.

I remember TO more for the Tomich, Aaron Graham, Neil Smith type recruits.
These were guys who didn't get recruited by Div 1A teams yet became AA under
TO. Yes, he got someof the Tommie Frazier's and Ahman Green's but it was
the walkons and lower ranked recruits that made the difference. In 25 years
TO only had a couple of top ten classes (Tommies was one) yet he was always
in the top ten team rankings. This suggests he was a better coach than
recruiter.
