I think it is fine to honor those serving in the military and I think they do it in a nice way with the Gate Sentry, but we need something more exciting than football players jumping out of an airplane and making like Superman as they change from street clothes to football uniforms while passing through the waterfall in the Osborne Building.

The tunnel walk video was HORRIBLE. It was so bad, that I honestly
don't remember a thing about the music. Most people (myself included)
were actually laughing at the video. The part where the players are in
a plane and then all of a sudden it cuts to them standing outside of
Memorial Stadium with parachutes on is something you'd see in an Ed Wood
film. It was beyond corny. I think it's awesome that they pay tribute
to the armed forces with the "gate entry", but this video was not a
fitting tribute to those great men and women.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the computer-generated animation was
severely mediocre and outdated (and it has been for some time). That
may have passed for quality computer animation 10 years ago, but not in
2007. It's as if the company in charge of the video hasn't upgraded
their equipment in years. Unfortunately for them, it shows.
All Nebraska needs for a good tunnel walk viedo is highlights of old
games and some inspiring music. Gimmicks like this or the "red alert"
crap from 2003 simply aren't neccessary. Last year's tunnel walk video
was fine, and I wouldn't mind if they just switched it back and swept
this monstrosity under the rug. I don't know what other school's intro
videos are like, but I can say that the tunnel walk videos for UNO's
hockey team are often better than the stuff UNL has put out lately, and
that's from an athletic department with not much of a budget and a
fanbase several orders of magnitude less.
I feel silly that I just posted 3 paragraphs on the tunnel walk. I
suppose the right answer is that it really doesn't matter...how the team
plays is the important thing. However, this video was so bad that I
couldn't contain myself :)
