Good Morning All:

You will recall that when I made my original comment about the Tunnel Walk yesterday I specifically stated at the end of my second and final paragraph: "........(if in fact it changes)." Now according to a posting to the Huskers website it appears that the changes are more in the "lead up" to the tunnel walk than the actual Tunnel Walk itself (my guess is this while the band is forming the path through which the team passes once they exit the tunnel)....this comes from an article written by Randy York that states the person who has been the "creative genius" behind the Tunnel Walk hatched this new idea.

It was my impression that Jeff Schmal (now Associate AD at Texas A&M) was the brains behind the Tunnel Walk and his departure a few years ago had led to a general deterioration of the Tunnel Walk theme and video product. Now comes word that the "creative genius" behind this piece is still here and has been the "creative genius" since the inception of the Tunnel Walk. Judging by the quality of the product over the past four years or so one has to wonder how he has managed to hold on to that position and if this new lead up that may incorporate some newer jazzy/hip/hop music isn't a last ditch effort to win back the fans and keep his position as the "creative genius"? Those of you who have attended the games over the last few years know what I'm talking about with the various Tunnel Walk productions including "Red Alert", Keith Jackson etc.

As for Bob's comment about Randy York, the athletic department hired Randy York over the summer to take the lead in the Communications Department (something they sorely need), kind of serving as a Super Sports Information Director. If I recall correctly Randy was working out of state somewhere when Steve Pederson contacted him about returning to Lincoln.
