I noticed that too (as did the announcers) but didn't he just throw it
straight up in the air? I wasn't sure if it went on the field or not, it
looked like he threw it straight up.

Speaking of clipboards, what's up with the Texas assistant launching  
his clipboard onto the field during one of our running plays?   
Shouldn't there be some kind of penalty for that?
