>>Give me a break. No-one is talking about hating anyone... Much less
becoming ritualistic cannibalistic acid whatevers. What the heck is that all
about.
I agree cannibalism may be a little strong but there certainly is a
certain amount of venom there. It goes way beyond just the idea that a new
coach may be needed. The talk gets pretty strong and pretty hateful.
>>This is a football team. Coaches get paid a lot of money to coach them.
They realize that they must win most games to keep this job. The fact that
their chosen profession is so tentative is part of the reason that they get
lots of money and long contracts. Lets see... My contract extension date is
ummm tomorrow.
And that means they can be treated any way anyone chooses to treat them
right? Things like hollering obscenities and the like at Callahan while he
leaves the field is not acceptable from the best fans in the world. If a
coach doesn't do the job he needs to be replaced but he doesn't deserve to
be verbally abused.
>>Bill Callahan is a great guy. He will still be a great guy and possibly
great coach somewhere else. He's not going to go home and slip into total
depression if he loses this job. He worked for Al Davis for Pete's sake.
I don't think anyone said that or implied that. It was only said that
no matter how much money you make getting relieved from a job and the
resulting things they come with it can be very trying and a degree of
sympathy and empathy may be in order.
>>Caution... The following may cause some of you GREAT DISDAIN! The Husker
Fans are the greatest fans for a lot of reasons ( that some of you prefer to
ignore ) even if some of them want new coaches. It's FOOTBALL!
Explain to me what I prefer to ignore? I have already said they follow
well and they, for the most part, treat the opposition with respect. When
the team is winning they cheer and can be great to be around. There are
positives. But, in many ways they are no better than any other fans when the
team is losing and from I have seen the last few weeks can indeed be
downright hateful. I know many Husker fans that believe Husker fans are far
and away the best and believe it to be "fact". I am aware of that. I don't
necessarily agree with that but I am aware that thought process is out there
Mostly I hear that from Husker fans.
>>Anybody want to talk about our chances at KU. Personally I believe with
the fire I saw yesterday we can win out.
I like out chances a lot more than I did a week ago at this time at KU.
I am not going as far as to say we can win out. Of course we CAN. Anything
can happen, but the way things have gone I certainly wouldn't predict that.
