[Husker] A Supreme effort

I watched the entire game today, every play, and it was, for the most part, great.  It was clear that the coaches decided they had nothing to lose, particularly on defense, and shot the wad.   We've all seen it happen where a team, outmanned, decides to go all out and pulls off a win on one particular afternoon, and this is what the Huskers were going for today.  The defense was insane.  I don't think I was a single play in the first half, and most of the second,  where there were less than 7 committed to attacking the line of scrimage.  Often 8, and many times 9.  9-man line, 2 corners, no safeties.  Texas was clueless.  They spent 3 quarters trying to take advantage of this by throwing quick over it, to no avail.  I fully expected them to run every play against one of the worst rush defenses in the country but this was a different defense today.  In the end though, they figured it out.  If you have a rush like that, and your RBs get through the line, then there is no one back there, and that is just what happened.  Charles navigated the line, and then goodbye.  I loved the "go for it or die" mentality of the defense, I guess my only complaint would be that when it looked like you had a real chance to win the game, keep up the pressure but maybe keep a safety back for just this kind of emergency.  But "you gotta dance with the one who brung ya" and taking the chances had got them close so I get it that you would want to stick with it.

Keller had an excellent day.  When I look at his stats, I wonder that we didn't score 24-30.  Keller does not throw a good out.  He throws a poor crossing route.  His deep ball is all over the place.  But he is very good when throwing down the middle of the field to receivers running downfield and he showed that today, just look at the two TD throws.

This was more like Nebraska football.  Even in defeat, you better believe you have been in a war.  I guarantee the Longhorns know it tonight.  Competitive, damn right.  Hard hitting, super aggressive, mean.  Nobody in burnt orange is laughing tonight.
