If BC tries to sell the fact he went to 4 straight bowl games he would be a liar. Remember he didn't go to one after the '04 season.

1. Assuming Callahan's gone no matter how well (or how poorly) the team does the rest the way, the better he does the better his next job will be. e.g. Imagine the team goes 2-2 and wins a bowl game. Considering where we are now would constitute (borrowing from Borat) "great success". That might just set up BC for a midmajor type of program (e.g. MAC, Sunbelt). Think about: great recruiter, plus .500 record at a top program, 2-2 four consecutive bowl games, it's sellable). (also think "Jerry Glanville", Portland State was thrilled to get him). Contrast that with the interest in him if he goes 4-8 and clearly is coaching a team that can't be competitive.
2. Say what you will about BC skills or attitude, you can't get to where he is and not care about winning. I'm sure just for his own mental health, he still wants to win every game, irrespective of the external consequences.

What motivation does Callahan have to even try to win any more games this season? He knows he is gone at the end of the season. If he doesn't have six wins there will be no bowl game so the season will be over by the end of November. He will get his money and get out of town.
